When the weather up north gets particularly frightful, American bald eagles, pelicans and other migratory birds work their way south, using the Mississippi River as a road map, to “winter” in the (slightly) balmier weather of the River Bend.

Abilene area ladies attending the Christian Women’s Club Coffee enjoyed a fun time as they celebrated the theme “Breakfast in Bed” at their January meeting. Three sisters, Eva Barber, Vera Wegner and Hazel Brenner, all of Abilene, were prize winners.

Attorneys appeal decision to deny use of Shadyside mansion as B&B
Attorneys for former Steelers offensive lineman Chukky Okobi filed an appeal Tuesday of a zoning decision denying him the use of his Shadyside residence as a bed and breakfast and outdoor event venue.
